The Last Guelda
is a film that layers Hi8 MP tapes of Guelda as a child in her late family’s home with archival 8mm film of her mother growing up in the same space. Juxtaposing footage of Guelda – now isolated in the abandoned home – sorting through the inherited possessions of her mother and grandparents, the film captures the intimacy and loneliness of her experience. The installation draws on the ritual of collecting and preserving transitional objects of grief, portraying how objects transform into emotional anchors during sorrow. It examines the paradox of grief – its capacity to both haunt and heal.

Installed in the Parsons 2025 BFA Photography Exhibition at Pfizer 630 Flushing Ave, Brooklyn, NY from May 5th to 16th.
